Officially launched in April 2020, our comprehensive spine center is led by Dr. Julio Petilon, a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon who's credentials speak for themselves. Dr. Petilon will be working with Dr. Brian Vanderhoof to provide a comprehensive plan for your neck and back problems.
What is a Doctor of Orthopedics in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation?
In short, it is a non-operative back doctor. A DO aims to help you get back on your feet and free from pain using non operative techniques like physical therapy or injections. Our non-operative physicians focus on a zero narcotic policy and aim to have you pain free without any narcotic use. While some problems in the back require more aggressive management with surgery, most back problems do not require a spine surgeon to be involved with your care.

What is a Spine Surgeon and what do they do?
A spine surgeon is a physician who has completed all the necessary training to be certified to perform surgery on the spine of their patients. Spine surgeons also offer a complete non-operative methodology of care for their patients who could benefit from conservative treatment. Spine surgery is only selected as a treatment option when all other options have been exhausted and the pain or function of the patient is no longer manageable. Should surgery be required, a surgeon with ample training and a steady hand is ideal as your first spine surgery is your best chance for success!
