Currently we are using stem cells when patients are trying to avoid surgical intervention.  Stem cells are the newest technology that are thought to help regenerate cells by providing the precursor cells that then become cartilage.  We are at the forefront of stem cell usage.

Gel Injections

PRP

PRP is formally known as platelet rich protein.  PRP injections are made with your own blood by placing it in a machine that extracts the growth promoting factors to help cartilage heal.  In theory, these high doses of concentrated proteins help heal cartilage.

Cartilage Replacement Surgery

In select cases of full thickness cartilage tears, we offer the cutting edge surgeries repairing large defects.  Using grafts and bone plugs with cartilage caps, we are able to restore the joint to improve kinematics.  Think of it as a pothole in a road- every time you drive over it you feel the bump.  The same principle applies to the knee.  If you have a large cartilage defect, you feel it when you bend the knee.  We provide all treatments for surgical cartilage restoration.
