Orthopedic care when the problem cannot wait

Urgent Orthopedic Care in Atlanta—Weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM

When a bone, joint or sports injury can be treated safely in an orthopedic office, call the specialist who is trained to diagnose and treat it. Atlanta Bone & Joint Specialists offers urgent and same-day appointments on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, subject to availability, with digital X-rays, immediate treatment options, access to MRI in Snellville and direct evaluation by an orthopedic physician—not a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

Weekdays 9 AM–5 PM · Call First · Subject to Availability
404-298-3730 Schedule an Appointment Online

Same-day appointments are not walk-in or guaranteed and depend on the office, physician schedule, time of request and type of injury. Call first. Serious or life-threatening emergencies still require an emergency department.

Call an Orthopedic Specialist First See the physician who specializes in bone, joint and injury care—not a general ER or urgent-care provider.
Weekdays 9 AM–5 PM Urgent appointments may be available Monday through Friday during regular office hours.
X-Rays and Fast MRI Access Digital X-rays are available in all three offices, and selected MRI studies may sometimes be completed the same day in Snellville.
Avoid Unnecessary Facility Charges Office-based orthopedic care may help you avoid ER or general urgent-care fees when office treatment is appropriate.
Save time and potentially save money

Call the Orthopedic Specialist Who Is Trained to Treat the Injury

Emergency departments and general urgent-care centers provide important broad medical care, but they are not dedicated orthopedic practices. Many patients with fractures, sprains, swollen joints or sports injuries are evaluated there and then referred to an orthopedist for definitive treatment. When office care is appropriate, beginning directly with an orthopedic specialist may help you avoid duplicate visits, additional facility charges and delays before the correct treatment begins.

One orthopedic visit may replace two stops.

Examination, X-rays and initial treatment can often happen in the same office visit.

Cost transparency

Actual cost depends on your insurance, deductible, imaging, treatment and individual plan. We cannot guarantee that every orthopedic-office visit will cost less, but avoiding an unnecessary hospital or urgent-care encounter may reduce duplicate charges and out-of-pocket expense.

Your Evaluation Is With an Orthopedic Physician

Orthopedic injuries are best evaluated by a physician whose practice is focused on bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and musculoskeletal trauma. At Atlanta Bone & Joint Specialists, urgent patients are evaluated directly by an orthopedic physician who reviews the examination and imaging, establishes the diagnosis and directs the treatment plan.

✓Direct evaluation by an orthopedic MD
✓Physician review of X-rays and injury severity
✓Immediate decisions about bracing, casting, injections, MRI or surgery
✓Continuity with the orthopedic practice if follow-up is needed

Call First—This Is Not a Walk-In Clinic

Urgent orthopedic appointments are offered on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, subject to availability. Calling first allows the team to choose the right office, confirm physician availability and determine whether the injury is safe for office treatment.

When you call, tell us

✓Which body part is injured or painful
✓When and how the problem started
✓Whether there is deformity, severe swelling or inability to bear weight
✓Whether the injury occurred at work or during sports

Availability depends on

✓The time you call during the weekday
✓Which physician and office can treat the injury
✓The type and severity of the orthopedic problem
✓Whether emergency sedation or hospital resources are required
!

Some injuries still belong in the emergency room.

Call 911 or go directly to an emergency department for an open fracture, exposed bone, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of pulse or circulation, a pale or cold extremity, severe numbness, major trauma, suspected hip dislocation, head or neck injury, chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of a serious infection or another true emergency.

Frequently asked questions

Urgent Orthopedic Care FAQs

What hours are urgent orthopedic appointments available?
Urgent appointments may be available on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. They are subject to office and physician availability and are not walk-in or guaranteed.
Will I see an orthopedic physician?
Yes. Urgent orthopedic patients are evaluated by an orthopedic physician rather than being assigned only to a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
Can coming directly to orthopedics save money?
It may. When office care is appropriate, starting directly with orthopedics may help avoid duplicate visits, hospital facility charges or a general urgent-care visit followed by a separate orthopedic appointment. Actual cost depends on insurance and services provided.
Are X-rays available during the appointment?
Digital X-rays are available at the Decatur, Snellville and Loganville offices and may be obtained during the orthopedic visit when indicated.
Can you provide a cast, splint, boot or brace?
Yes. Depending on the diagnosis, office-based treatment may include casting, splinting, a walking boot, sling or orthopedic brace.
Can you treat fractures or dislocations without the ER?
Many closed fractures and selected dislocations can be evaluated in an orthopedic office. Some injuries require emergency sedation, hospital resources or immediate surgery. Call first so the team can direct you safely.
Can I receive a cortisone shot or joint aspiration the same day?
It may be possible after physician evaluation. The doctor first confirms the diagnosis and determines whether aspiration or injection is appropriate and safe.
Can MRI be arranged quickly?
Yes. In selected clinical situations, MRI in Snellville may sometimes be completed the same day. Other studies may be available within one to two business days after required insurance authorization, depending on scanner availability, study type and eligibility.
Do I need to call before coming?
Yes. This is not a walk-in clinic. Calling first allows the team to confirm same-day availability, select the appropriate office and determine whether the injury requires emergency-department care.
