Confidential Orthopedic Second Opinions for Professional and Elite Athletes
Private, independent orthopedic evaluations for professional, collegiate, elite and other high-level competitive athletes seeking clarity outside their usual team-based medical setting.
Privately coordinated. Evidence informed. Focused entirely on the athlete.
Medical care is appropriately documented and handled in accordance with applicable privacy and professional requirements.
Expert Orthopedic Care Without the Publicity
Many sports medicine practices emphasize team affiliations, athlete endorsements and recognizable patients. Atlanta Bone & Joint Specialists takes a quieter approach.
Athletes come to us for an independent medical opinion, not to become part of the practice's marketing. We do not announce athlete visits, publish a roster of athlete patients, share photographs or use an identifiable patient's care to promote the practice without specific written authorization.
Independent Care Designed Around Discretion
Less Exposure. More Control.
When reasonably available, consultations may be coordinated with selected appointment times, limited waiting-room exposure, direct rooming and private arrival arrangements.
Medical Care Is Not Content
We do not identify, photograph, publicize or promote an athlete's visit, diagnosis or recovery without that patient's specific written authorization.
Independent Medical Judgment
Recommendations are based on the athlete's diagnosis, goals and long-term interests, not outside expectations, media pressure or organizational timelines.
Communication on Your Terms
A designated coordinator can document preferred contact methods, voicemail instructions, authorized representatives and communication limitations.
Why Athletes Seek an Outside Orthopedic Opinion
Team physicians, athletic trainers and organizational medical staffs play important roles in athlete care. There are also times when an athlete wants another perspective from a physician who is not reporting to the athlete's team, school or organization.
A consultation does not require the athlete to transfer care. It may simply provide additional clarity before an important treatment, surgical or return-to-play decision.
Grounded in Evidence. Free From Hype.
High-level athletes cannot afford treatment based on marketing trends, unrealistic promises or one-size-fits-all protocols.
Our physicians evaluate the complete clinical picture, including the physical examination, imaging, prior treatment, competitive demands and long-term consequences of each option.
When appropriate, recommendations may include rehabilitation, image-guided injections, platelet-rich plasma, hyaluronic acid therapy, cartilage restoration or surgery. Treatment is individualized and guided by available medical evidence, not pressure to sell a particular procedure.
What Our Orthopedic Team Can Evaluate
A private second-opinion consultation may address an initial diagnosis, imaging findings, a proposed procedure, ongoing symptoms or concerns following previous orthopedic treatment.
Who This Service Is Designed For
Enhanced coordination is intended for athletes with a genuine need for greater scheduling, communication or privacy control.
Requests are reviewed individually. Standard orthopedic appointments remain available for athletes who do not require enhanced coordination.
How the Second-Opinion Process Works
Submit a Private Request
Provide the basic information needed for our team to review the request and identify the appropriate physician.
Define Communication Preferences
Tell us how and when you prefer to be contacted and who, if anyone, may receive information.
Provide Imaging and Records
Our team will explain how to provide MRI, CT, X-ray and relevant medical records through the appropriate pathway.
Coordinate the Visit
Scheduling, arrival and reasonable privacy accommodations will be reviewed based on location and availability.
Receive an Independent Assessment
The consultation focuses on the diagnosis, available options and questions important to the athlete's health and career.
Private Athlete Second Opinions
Will you contact my team, school, coach or agent?
We do not routinely contact an athlete's team, school, coach, agent, employer or organization. Information is shared only as authorized by the patient or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
Can my appointment be completely anonymous?
Confidential alias protocols may be available for qualifying high-profile athletes. A discreet display name can be used in selected scheduling and office workflows, while the athlete's verified identity remains securely linked within the protected medical record for safe and lawful care.
Can I pay without using insurance?
Self-pay arrangements may be available. Our team can explain the estimated consultation cost and whether imaging or additional services may result in separate charges.
Can your physicians review imaging performed elsewhere?
Yes. Whenever possible, the actual MRI, CT or X-ray images should be provided in addition to the written radiology report.
Does obtaining a second opinion mean I must transfer my care?
No. The consultation may simply provide another perspective. The athlete can decide whether to continue with the existing medical team, pursue another evaluation or seek treatment through our practice.
Will you advertise that I visited the practice?
No identifiable athlete is used in advertising, photography, testimonials or promotional content without the patient's specific written authorization.
Request a Privately Coordinated Orthopedic Consultation
Athlete inquiries are reviewed by a designated member of our team rather than being routed through a general scheduling pathway.
Please indicate your preferred communication method and whether voicemail, email or text messages may be used.
Submitting a request does not establish a physician-patient relationship and is not appropriate for emergencies. Call 911 or seek immediate emergency care for urgent or life-threatening conditions.
Atlanta Bone & Joint Specialists follows applicable medical-record and privacy requirements. Medical care is appropriately documented within a protected practice record. Privacy accommodations are intended to reduce unnecessary exposure and provide greater control over scheduling and communications. The practice does not communicate with a team, school, coach, agent, employer or other outside party unless authorized by the patient or otherwise permitted or required by law.
